Surface Drain
These drains are installed on the ground surface and consist of perforated pipes that collect water and channel it away from the property.
This type of drainage is the most commonly used in residential properties and is useful when the amount of water that collects is not great and there is a natural slope in the land that helps to drain the water.

Deep Drain
These types of drains are installed underground with perforated tubes, but also have a gravel on top to collect water on the surface.
Depending on the amount of water that collects in the area, more than one pipe may be used, as the diameter of the pipe will affect the amount of water that can flow.
The depth of this type of drain will vary depending on the natural grade of the ground, usually 3 to 4 feet, but can sometimes be deeper.
Pros of drain systems
Prevent foundation problems
Proper drainage is essential for foundation maintenance, as excess moisture and standing water are major causes of foundation problems. A drainage system helps collect and redirect water away from the home.
Erosion control
Erosion removes the protective topsoil around your foundation, leading to soil loss, reduced support, and potential structural damage.
Long term structural integrity
Keeping consistent moisture levels around the foundation helps maintain stable soil conditions, extending the life of the foundation and reducing the likelihood of costly future repairs.
